Surgical Method according to the Incision Location
Advantages
No problems with breastfeeding because it does not touch breast tissue
Scarring is hidden in the armpit fold, making the postoperative scar almost invisible over time
Disadvantages
Difficulty moving your arms right after the surgery
Advantages
Characteristically, the scar made in this area is almost invisible even immediately after surgery, and it is relatively easy to regain normal arm and shoulder movement.
The incision area made close to the surgical area makes it easier to perform surgery or re-surgery if the patient has slightly drooping breasts, helping produce an accurate outcome.
Disadvantages
Surgical scarring may appear if the areola is smaller than 2.5cm.
Advantages
The fastest way to get the surgery done, it is slightly more effective than other options if you have sagging breasts or need a reoperation because the incision is made close to the surgical site.
Disadvantages
In this incision area, scars can appear visible when you lie down or you have only a small amount of breast tissue before surgery.
Using this method, the surgeon places the upper part of the implants below the thoracic muscle (pectoral muscle) and the lower part below the breast tissue. The term ‘Dual Plane’ is used because the implants are placed over two planes.
If you have a small amount of breast tissue, the upper edge of the implants are covered up by the chest muscle to prevent the contours of the implants from protruding unnaturally after surgery. The lower part is placed above the muscle, allowing sufficient extension of the skin and cartilage to create a more natural breast outline.
This method is most commonly used among Korean women without enough breast tissue.
This method is used to place the implants between the breast tissue and pectoral muscle, usually when the patient has a lot of breast tissue and well-developed pectoralis muscle.
Among its advantages, not only it helps the breast move relatively more smoothly and the cleavage look more natural, but it also keeps the shape of the implants being affected by the movement of the pectoralis muscle.
This procedure is rarely recommended for young women because those with a slim body or with little breast tissue because the implants edges may become visible, showing indications of the surgery.
Since implants are placed under the peritoneum that surrounds the pectoralis muscles, it is a hybrid method that has both the advantages and disadvantages of double plane insertion below lacteal gland.
This procedure is also difficult to apply to extremely thin women, but it is also the most effective solution for those with sagging breasts but with enough breast tissue.
